This is my homework question:
The Saturn’s escape velocity is 22 miles per second. Rather than using the traditional MKS (meter-kilogram-second) unit system, an unusual unit system is the FFF system: furlong-firkin-fortnight. One furlong is equal to 201 meters and one fortnight is 14 days. Convert this to units of furlong per fortnight.
I’m literally considering not even-ing right now.

512 Berlinetta Boxers per fortnight.

1. Flip over your desk
2. Scream “fuck this shit”
3. Spend more time on oppo

Seems pretty simple to me. Translate it one step at a time. Remember, a UK Firkin (for butter and cheese) is 56 pounds.

it's rather simple

Firkin you, firkin this, firkin SIGNIFICANT FIGURES.

So it is just an overly complicated way of saying convert meters per second to 201 meters per 14 days? I remember hearing furlong in physics before, in between naps.

A firkin is also 25kg.

..its a simple unit change...but...what?

FUCK FIRKINS.

The solution is simple....
Here’s a McLaren for extra motivation

132,283 furlongs per fortnight.

The answer is 42.

It’s an easy conversion clothed in a weird setting to try to throw you off. You’re susceptible because it’s late and you’re tired. Do it in the morning if you can. Piece of cake then.

I just did it. I got it wrong by ONE decimal point.

Sounds like simple unit conversions to me.

Now that’s a way to solve a problem.

What Saturn? A Saturn car? Saturn V rocket? Firkin? Like the NATO designation for the Su-47? Two weeks? Long fur?
Of confusing. Cannot into space.

I totally had this question when I took phyiscs 1 last spring. Do I remember how to do it? Nope. Is that a problem for me? Yeah considering I’m in physics 2 now and should know how to do physics 1

213,034.03 furlongs.
you’re welcome.
![]() 10/15/2015 at 07:39 |

Because I’m not funny, the answer is 212,889,600 furlongs per fortnight.
(Assuming I did it correctly)

I’m guessing you have not learned a simple method for unit conversions. The way I was taught was that units are multiplied, divided, and canceled just like an unknown variable. Like so:
22 mile/second X 5280 ft/mile = ? ( mile *ft)/(second* mile ) = ? ft/second
You just need to go from miles to feet to meters to furlongs, then seconds to minutes to hours to days to fortnights. It’s a lot of multiplication, but you should be able to use a calculator.

What’s the answer because I, with no advanced understanding of what the hell is going on, tried to convert it and don’t think I got it quite right. For shits and giggles I got 1,013,736,194 furlongs per fortnight which seems like a lot so I feel like I missed a step in there.
